MWCB - Nike Instant Karma 1992

Directed by David Fincher, Nike picked up the 70s song "Instant Karma" by John Lennon for this iconic commercial. The popular song was apparently written, recorded, and mastered in just one day in 1970. When his widow Y. Ono signed a contract with Nike in 1992 for this commercial, she faced heavy criticism from fans who claimed she was selling out his legacy. However, she denied this, as the $800,000 from this deal was donated to a college fund that supports black youth. In addition, the song and other music by Lennon and the Beatles gained new attention among a younger audience through the commercial.

The matching OG Nike shirts, as worn by Frank Ocean at FYF 2017, are still very hard to find. 💎
