MWCB - Nike x Marshall Faulk
This commercial features Hall Of Famer Running Back Marshall Faulk at the start of his career with the Indianapolis Colts. Faulk was one of the greatest running backs of his era and ranks 10th all-time with 12,279 career rushing yards. As seen in this commercial, he was tough to stop.
From muscle cars to fighter jets, no defense could stop Marshall in his Nike Air Barrage Turf Trainers. The Air Barrage was a popular 1995-96 turf trainer worn by many NFL players on game day on the turf and also by many kids on school days. It was a big and tough-looking shoe with a large midfoot strap and midsole “pods” or “teeth.” The Barrage was no stranger to Nike’s shameless mid-90s branding with a huge “AIR” across the midsole and at least five swooshes on each shoe.
It’s so cool how Nike would always only show second snippets of the shoes they were advertising in these commercials. There weren’t too many football commercials that were this strong. Most TV stars were basketball players but in the 90s, turf shoes and trainers were also very popular, specifically the Air Barrage that Marshall Faulk is wearing in this clip.
