MWCB - Nike Instant Karma 1992

Directed by David Fincher, Nike took on John Lennon’s 70s Song „Instant Karma“ for this iconic commercial. The popular song was apparently written, recorded and mastered in 1970 in just one day. When his widow Y. Ono agreed on a deal with Nike for this commercial in 1992, she was facing large criticism by fans claiming she was selling out his legacy. But she denied that as the $800k from that deal were donated to a college fund that supports black youths. Plus through the commercial the song and other music by Lennon and the Beatles gained new attention from a younger group of listeners.
